In episode 294 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with Ethan Miller and Jason Soda of Howlin Rain. In their conversation they start with Ethan who walks through his role as the owner of Silver Current Records apart from his role in the band and the benefits and economics of having your own label. Ethan tells us about the bands new album “Watermelon” and how Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes got involved. Jason joins the conversation and explains Palamino Sound (palominosound.com) in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of LA a studio which he owns and where Howlin Rain rehearses and records and the two discuss how they met and how Jason ended up in the band. Ethan describes living in Arcata and the logistics of commuting to LA for rehearsal and band activities. Jason gives us a little bit of his background and he walks us through Palamino Sound and describes some of the guitar gear he has built up in the studio and what they used on the album. Finally the two talk about tour plans.
