In their conversation John talks about living in Carlsbad which is the headquarters for NAMM and he tells us a bit about being a licensed sea captain and teaching sailing as a hobby. John takes us through his musical education studying in Virginia and Louisiana as a dual major in both music and education. John describes his role at NAMM and he discusses his former role at Hal Leonard where he worked in musical education and technology. John tells us about some of the challenges that NAMM and the music merchants face during the current economic and political climate regarding trade and tariffs. John discusses the band instrument program in school and how those instruments are delivered. John talks about the NAMM show in Anaheim and its future, its online presence and influencers.
