In episode 277 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, hostJames Patrick Regan with Singer/Songwriter Bruce Cockburn. In their conversation Bruce describes his time studying at Berklee School of music and his interactions with guitar instructor William Leavitt and his contemporaries in his class: John Abercrombie, Dave Mott, Pat and Joe LaBarbor. Bruce discusses growing up in Toronto and his parents influence on his musical passion and his love of Scotty Moore and Mississippi John Hurt. Bruce talks about gear throughout his career Harmony’s, Gibson’s, early on and more recently Larrivee, Collings and Dobro’s. Bruce takes us through his tour plans and shows supporting Judy Collins and the logistics of touring with acoustic guitars. Bruce tells us about using alternate tunings and a few of his favorites and he talks about getting older and playing guitar.
